True Courage
Cast down from the largest man he’d ever seen, an ominous shadow swallowed his glaringly average frame. A fear unlike any other rooted his boots to the earth and froze his numb fingers to the only weapon in his grasp. Flashes of his own doom projected before him as a deathlike chill prickled up his spine. And just like all before him, he turned to flee, for who could expect to emerge victorious against such odds? But after a step or two, he circled back, craning his neck towards the towering figure. In that moment a decision was made. A choice that would separate him from all others. He would not back down. He would not succumb to doubt. In that instant he would emerge a hero, for true courage will only come to those who are first afraid.
